De-Googling
Over the years, I have replaced or minimized my usage of Google services with other alternatives.
All except one: YouTube. Because there is no real alternative available. And that is ok for now, until a good alternative comes along.
But what is a good alternative? After all, what makes YouTube valuable and hard to move away from is the sheer amount of content and people using it. There might be other alternatives, but there is simply no match in content. A better alternative worth migrating to would mean not only better privacy, but also more people using it and a level of content to match YouTube.
Besides privacy reasons, De-Googling also means reducing dependence on one tech company (in this case, Google) for all or most of the services. It is about decentralizing and digital sovereignty. However, this is a journey. It might not happen all at once. And that is ok.
Reducing my dependence on this company to just one service is good enough to acomplish this.
